Postcards from Dorset

After our first trip there last summer, I’m really rather in love with Dorset. Like many British people, I have until recently, tended to favour a 3-hour flight over a 3-hour drive out of London, in the hope of guaranteed sun, aperitivos, and sea you’ll always want to swim in. But if a year of being locked in the UK has taught me anything, it’s that I’ve been foolish in that mindset and kind of ignorant as to what’s on my doorstep. The Jurassic Coast has always had rave reviews from those who know it, but I didn’t realise just how beautiful we were talking. The beaches are beautiful, the walks along the South West Coast Path are endless and so easy to navigate with the sea always to one side, and there’s no shortage of quiet spots to stop for a swim. And anyway, any trip that’s based around when and where the next fish and chip stop is is always a good one in my books.

Yes, a 3-hour drive is kind of dull (especially when an hour of that is sitting on the Hammersmith flyover), but goodness, if you like walks and sea swims, there’s a real pot of gold waiting at the end for you. ‘Til next time, Dorset!
